Overview

  • IIT Delhi is an autonomous statutory organisation functioning under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963.
  • Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) is for the candidates who qualify JEE Advanced and wish to take admission in the B. Arch. program offered by IIT Kharagpur , IIT (BHU) Varanasi, and IIT Roorkee only.
  • It is mandatory for students to qualify for AAT 2021 for being considered for BArch seat allotment.
  • Admission to undergraduate architecture courses will be based on marks achieved in the Architecture Aptitude Test and the candidate`s performance in Class XII or equivalent examination
  • Candidates will be required to register separately after JEE Advanced 2021 Result to appear in AAT.
  • Candidates have to use their JEE Advanced 2021 Admit Card for appearing in the exam. No separate admit card for AAT.
  • In the JEE Advanced exam, the questions are based on PCM subjects only. But candidates interested in pursuing architecture courses have to be well versed with the other aspects as well.

Application Details

  • AAT 2021 application forms are expected to start online for candidates on June 12, 2021.
  • Candidates aspiring to complete their architecture programs from the IITscan fill the AAT 2021 application form by logging in to the official website of JEE Advanced.
  • Candidates have to ensure that the application form must be submitted before the scheduled last date.
  • The exam conducting authorities will not provide any application form correction window so students have to be very careful while filling the details in the AAT 2021 application form.
  • For successful submission of the application form, candidates will be required to pay the requisite fee (as per fee structure).

Steps to fill the application form:

  • The applicants need to enter their JEE Advanced registration number and date of birth in the required field to log in to the official portal.
  • Candidates will be required to select "Yes" or "No" mentioned for the question "Are you interested in AAT".
  • The applicants have to select the exam centers from the list of exam centers.
  • After filling in all the required details, candidates have to submit it.

Analysis

  • IIT Delhi conducts AAT every year to facilitate candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced, to seek admission to BArch in IIT Kharagpur / IIT Roorkee/ IIT (BHU) Varanasi.
  • The question paper has various components such as General Knowledge, Geometrical Drawing, 3D Perception and Aspects, Freehand Drawing and Imagination, and Aesthetic Sensitivity.
  • Candidates can find a total of 16 questions in the paper and many of them are multiple-choice.
  • The purpose of the examination is to test the ability of JEE Advanced qualified candidates for their creativity in drawings, 3D perceptions, aesthetic sensitivity, and over and above general knowledge in the domain subject.
  • Since AAT exam will be held for 3 hours, the candidates have to demonstrate their capability to prove that they will step into the architectural arena.

Counselling

  • Results for AAT will be declared within 5 days from the day of examination.
  • IIT Delhi conducts online counseling soon after the announcement of AAT results.
  • Separate schedule will be notified for the online counseling.
  • Seat Allotment for AAT is on the basis of All India category-wise Rank secured by candidates in JEE Advanced.
  • The details for counseling for 2021 will be updated at an appropriate time.

Subjects

  • Freehand Drawing: This section comprises simple drawings depicting the total object in its right form and proportion, surface texture, relative location, and details of its parts on an appropriate scale and may include common objects like furniture, equipment, and other things from memory.
  • Geometrical Drawing: This involves exercises in geometrical drawing containing lines, angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, etc. study of the plan (top view), elevation (front or side views) of simple solid objects like prisms, cones, cylinders, cubes, splayed surface holders, etc.
  • 3-dimensional Perception: Understanding and appreciation of 3-dimensional forms with building elements, color, volume, and orientation. Visualization through structuring objects in memory.
  • Imagination and aesthetic sensitivity: This comprises composition exercises with given elements. Context mapping. Creativity checks through the innovative uncommon test with familiar objects. The sense of color grouping or application.
  • Architectural Awareness: This subject contains general interest and awareness of famous architectural creation, both national and international, designers, places, personalities, and other related topics of general knowledge in this area.

Dates

AAT 2021 Important dates:

  • AAT 2021 registration: The application forms for AAT 2021 will be made available by the IIT Delhi within one or two days after the declaration of JEE Advanced 2021 result.
  • AAT 2021 admit card: IIT Delhi, the exam conducting authority, will not issue a separate admit card for AAT. Candidates appearing in the exam have to use the JEE Advanced admit card which is expected to be released in the third week of May 2021.
  • AAT 2021 exam date: The exam will be held in the third week of June 2021.
  • AAT 2021 result: IIT Delhi will release the AAT 2021 result in June 2021. The result will comprise the exam scores, All India Rank (AIR) of candidates, subject-wise marks, etc.
  • AAT 2021 counseling and seat allotment process: It will be conducted from June 2021 (tentative) onwards. The counseling and seat allotment process will be conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

Eligibility

  • The applicants must have appeared in the class 12th examination.
  • The applicants must qualify JEE Main and JEE Advanced to appear in AAT 2021
  • At the time of admission procedure, applicants have to provide the details of JEE Mains & JEE Advanced.
  • To attempt JEE Advanced AAT 2021, applicants should have been born on or after 01 October 1996. Five years of age relaxation is given to SC/ST/PwD candidates
  • Applicants can attempt JEE (Advanced) AAT maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
  • However, IIT Kharagpur will release detailed JEE Advanced 2021 eligibility criteria on the official website along with the application form.

Centres

  • The exam will be held at the seven zonal coordinating IITs only.
  • Candidates appearing for the AAT examination need to be diligent in exercising the option of the examination center in the application form.
  • AAT exam will be conducted in the following centers only, although there are many IITs in different parts of India.

Results

  • IIT Delhi will release the AAT 2021 result online on the official website of JEE Advanced 2021.
  • Candidates will need to login to the official website by entering their JEE advanced application number and password.
  • AAT 2021 will be conducted after the declaration of the JEE Advanced 2021 result.
  • Qualified candidates of JEE Advanced 2021 will only be allowed to appear for the AAT 2021.
  • Though it is compulsory for BArch aspirants to appear for AAT, the counseling and seat allotment process will be based done on the ranks obtained by them in JEE Advanced.
  • The AAT 2021 result will comprise only the pass or fail status.
  • The Joint Implementation Committee of the JEE Advanced will decide the cut-off score for the AAT
  • Candidates with a score greater than the cutoff will be considered qualified
  • There will be no separate ranking for the AAT 2021 exam
  • Those candidates who qualify, only in the exam will be eligible for admissions to the BArch programme at IIT Roorkee, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, and IIT Kharagpur.

  • Visit the official website (jeeadv.ac.in)
  • Find and click on the link to check the AAT 2021 result
  • Enter the required login details
  • The AAT 2021 result will appear on the screen
  • Download and take a print out of the result for all future references

Admit Card

  • No separate admit card will be issued for AAT 2021
  • The students need to carry their JEE Advanced 2021 admit card at the exam center to appear for the exam.
  • On examination day, the students are permitted to carry their own geometry sets and colors, including watercolors.
